WRX in Blue Black Mica.

Details....

• No coupe, only 4 and 5 door models. The WRC will be based upon the 4 door.
• 70kg heavier, most of which is at the front.
• Stiffer body.
• 5mm longer wheel base.
• 5 door does NOT get the wider wheel arches and is thus reduced track
• 4 door 40mm wider.
• Overall length increased by 55mm.
• Height increased by 30mm.
• Front suspension strut, rear dual link strut.
• Front mounted cold air intake for the air filter box which takes the air from the front edge of the bonnet.
  

News on the UK specification are as follows are....

• 5 door gets a full sized spare on TS and GX
• 5 door gets an umbrella storage area (eh?)
• Side airbags on the 4 door not on the 5
• Sports seats with side support on the (wait for it) 5 door but not on the 4
• From Spring 2001 - rally style bucket seats on 4 door as no cost option (but lose side airbags)
• Roof height has been increased 35mm in the 4 door and 60mm in the 5.
• Single slot CD radio cassette in a double DIN size unit on WRX
• Aircon- proper climate control this time on GX and WRX.
• Drilled pedals
• Outside temperature gauge
• Heated mirrors
• Central sun visor
• Proper inertia centre rear seat belt
• Drop down arm rest on the rear seat
• 17" wheels wearing 215/45 rubber (5 double spokes) on WRX.
• Alloy front suspension arms
• 11% bigger intercooler
• +1Nm peak torque (at 400rpm lower)
• Same power output
• Front brakes the same but rear are now twin piston opposed caliper ventilated
• 0-60mph given as 5.9sec
• 3rd cat between manifold and turbo
• 50/50 power split front/rear
• Thatcham 1 with remote locking on all models including the 1.6TS
• We get the less likeable headlight as predicted. Gas discharge might be added at a later date.
• Aluminium bonnet on WRX
• Colours available....mica red, silver, a dark blue, green, sonic blue and black mica (with a blue fleck).
• Optional interior items - wood effect dash anyone?
• Optional exterior items lifted from the STi catalogue no less such as front and rear lip spoilers, sports grille etc.
• Optional wheels and even upgraded suspension! Note this is even before Prodrive start offering goodies.
• Price £500 more than the outgoing model but you get air con, 17in wheels and a CD player thrown in.
• Rear windows on the Japanese models at least, are deep tinted like the WRX STi Type R.
• Australian market to get CD as standard...UK also!
